3rd Steering Committe meeting & Transnational event in Quimper


The 3rd transnational meeting was organized by Technopole in Quimper (France) on last 3rd and 4th december. 17 representatives from our 10 partner organizations came on the tip of Brittany!  It was the opportunity to share insights, expériences, ideas that drive the project forward. We have shared work progress and learned from one another.

Regulatory and administrative aspects on using marine by-products were explored thanks to a transnational panel of Experts :

- For France, 3 experts from IDMer  - Technical and Innovation Centre – adding value to food products and by-products (Véronique Bonnier QHSE Manager, Françoise Bourhis Scientific Manager, Jean-Luc Lavole Research Engineer)

- For Ireland, Enforcement Policy Executive from FSAI, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (Una Walton)

- For Portugal,  DGAV – Directorate General for Food and Veterinary products

In addition to the work sessions, three french innovative projects were presented :
Les Paniers de la Mer – A Valorization of marine co-products initiative.This social inclusion association utilizes unsold fish for first processing and wholesales to food banks. The processing workshop employs socially fragile populations. Paniers de la mer, réseau d'insertion professionnelle et d'aide alimentaire

The collaborative project Voloth by the Museum of natural history on sea concomber valorization
Polaris Company, the leader in concentrated EPA/DHA fatty acids from microalgae and fish oil. Polaris, expert des Omega-3 et huiles riches en EPA / DHA - Polaris

Then, the group has visited the Food Technical center ADRIA, ADRIA est un Centre Technique Agroalimentaire, leader en qualité et sécurité des aliments. After a collective presentation we have discovered the laboratory of microbiology and the laboratory of food science.

It was a great occasion to better know the French regional context and encourage potential partnerships.

A fruitful work to continue the Aquafish 0.0 adventure and to pave the way for successful outcomes!
