Cooking game: preliminary tests
The VR Sea Chef is a cooperative asymmetric seafood cooking game, its goal is to fight against the over-consumption of sea products and aim to raise children's awareness of the consequences of their actions from an early age. It also provides knowledge on ingredients and recipes for seafood products.
This game puts pairs users in cooperative environment. They both use a different interface, one with a virtual reality interface and the other with a tablet. Their tasks are different, but their objective is the same. The virtual reality user has to prepare orders using recipes generated by the application from basic ingredients (Salmon, Tuna, Avocado, etc.). The tablet user has to catch the ingredients and collect them in bags with a certain capacity, then send the bags to the virtual reality player. The aim of the game is not to lose food (limited shelf life) or dishes (delivery time to be respected), so users must achieve the best score with the least possible loss by greater cooperation.
Currently this is the first iteration of the game and we are still working on the conception, the tasks of both player and game objective will evolve.
In the framework of AQUAFISH project, the game will help to raise awareness and encourage their consumption, providing users with recipes and cooking tips to help them prepare these products in delicious and creative ways. Overall, this approach could be an effective way to introduce consumers to the culinary potential of bycatch products and promote their responsible use in the culinary industry.
